PlantPal is a plant care application that helps you track watering, fertilizing and repotting schedules, identify plants from photos, and follow plant care guidance. PlantPal does not require an account, and we do not collect, store or sell your personal data on our own servers. This policy explains what data the app handles and which third-party services are involved.
The following data is created by you and stored only locally on your device:
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (see Section 5). Deleting the app, or using Settings → Delete All Data, permanently removes it.
When you tap the Identify Plant button, the photo you selected is sent to the Pl@ntNet identification service (my-api.plantnet.org) to determine the plant species. This happens only when you explicitly request identification — photos are never uploaded automatically. The photo is processed by Pl@ntNet to return species suggestions and is handled according to the Pl@ntNet terms of use and privacy practices. We do not attach your identity to these requests and we do not store the photos on any server of our own.
PlantPal is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob (banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads). To serve and measure ads, Google may collect:
This collection is performed by Google under its own policies. See Google Privacy Policy and AdMob data practices. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization in your device's Google settings.
You may export your data as a JSON file from Settings → Export Data. The file is created locally and shared only through the destination you choose (e-mail, cloud drive, messaging app, etc.). We have no access to exported files. Importing a backup only reads the file you select and stores its contents locally.
Watering, fertilizing and repotting reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push notification service or server is involved, and notification content is not transmitted anywhere.
All permissions are optional; the app works without them with reduced functionality.
PlantPal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad requests are not tagged for child-directed treatment.
Because your data lives only on your device, you are in full control: use Settings → Delete All Data to erase everything inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data. Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's policies linked above.
Your data is stored in the app's private storage area, protected by your device's operating system sandbox. Network communication with Pl@ntNet and Google is performed over HTTPS.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
